Beach & Company records, 1833-1958.

Ledgers, journals, cash books, trial balances and account books of a Hartford, Connecticut, importer and dealer in dyes and chemicals. Also one account book of the predecessor company, Phelps, Beach & Co., records of the Woodruff & Beach Iron Works, 1853-1874, which made engines and boilers, and investment accounts for Edith, Frances and Mary Beach, 1926-1942. Beach & Co. also managed Vine Hill Farm, a dairy farm, in West Hartford, which is represented in this collection by a scrapbook, ledgers and an account book, 1865-1922.

George Beach was a partner in 1836 in Phelps, Beach & Co., an importer and dealer in dyes and chemicals. The company became Beach & Co. in 1839. George's son Henry Bruce Beach joined the firm that same year but in 1844 became a partner in Woodruff & Beach Iron Works.
